Well, if Albany is Christmas Eve, then NC State will be Christmas morning for Panther fans. That's right...it's almost here, Pitt fans: the ACC portion of the schedule. You won't be able to complain about lack of competition from now on, so get out those last few gripes before the second game of this week.
Pitt will begin with a matinee against the Albany Great Danes, out of the American East Conference and their mascot unfortunately looks like Scooby Doo.
Albany comes in with a 6-6 record and the game will tip off at The Pete at 1:00 p.m. on New Year's Eve. If you cannot be there in person, you will need your computer because the game is only on ESPN3. Duquesne, Colgate, and Bucknell are among Albany's losses, so as long as the Panthers aren't dreaming of their first ACC game, they should coast into ACC play with a 12-1 record.
After Albany, ACC play will begin for Pitt on Saturday, January 4th, at noon. They will travel down to North Carolina State to take on the Wolfpack. Despite a bad loss early in the year to North Carolina Central, the Wolfpack currently sit at 9-3 and their other two losses were to Cincinnati (sound familiar?) and to the #25 ranked Missouri Tigers. The game is on the ACC Network (WTAE-TV, locally) and also ESPN3.
