No big surprise here as these guys all had verbally committed to Pitt as we initially covered, but Shaquille Doorson, Ryan Luther, and Sheldon Jeter are officially signed to letters of intent for the Panthers' basketball program.
This class is an interesting one and depending on who you talk to, Jamie Dixon has either done a phenomenal job with next year's class or a poor one.
In Doorson, the Panthers get a big body with a lot of potential. But even at 6'11", there are a lot of questions about him as an international player that's a relative unknown.
Jeter was a local star that transferred to Pitt and is sitting out this year, but while he contributed for Vanderbilt as a freshman, with 5.5 points a game last season, he wasn't a star in a lesser conference.
And while Luther is another local star, there are questions by some about his ability to play at a major D-I program.
Personally, I'm pretty good with this class. The Panthers didn't land some of the bigger names they were targeting for next year, but also keep in mind that with talented young guys like James Robinson, Josh Newkirk, Detrick Mostella (we hope), Mike Young, and even Durand Johnson, playing time isn't going to be as plentiful in the seasons to come as it may be at other programs.
All in all, I'm fairly pleased with what Dixon was able to do here considering all of that. Jeter was a top 150 recruit rated by Rivals, Doorson is rated as the third-best recruit in Europe by ESPN, and Luther is a three-star kid who had offers from Iowa and Virginia Tech, according to Rivals.
Some question marks here for sure, but as a whole, there are some players here that are intriguing.
