Another day, another tough game in the Big East.
Pitt gets Marquette today and it's on the road. It will be another difficult opponent for Pitt, but the fact that the Panthers just went into Cincinnati to beat the Bearcats should instill a little confidence.
In case you don't remember, Pitt played Marquette closely in the first game at the Pete, falling in overtime. On the road, the slight edge probably goes to the Golden Eagles, but this should be pretty close to a pick 'em. Marquette doesn't have any bad Big East losses and the team has played extremely well. They've also had their share of close losses, losing three games by a total of five points.
One thing that really impressed me was the composure of Marquette in that overtime game against Pitt. I was at the game and the place was rocking after Lamar Patterson's three-pointer sent it into OT. Lots of other teams would have folded in that situation, but Marquette just went about their business and closed it out.
I don't want to make this sound as if Pitt doesn't need this game, but I was just hoping for a split on the road in these two contests. Since Pitt beat Cincy, that will make it a bit easier to take a loss here if the Panthers can't pull it out. That said, let's go out and get this one.
Game time is at 1:00 p.m. on CBS. I should be around for this one and be sure to stop in to comment live during the game right here.
