Pitt vs. Notre Dame: Open Gamethread

USA TODAY Sports

After a disappointing game on Saturday against Marquette, Pitt tries to right the ship tonight against Notre Dame.

The Irish are a good team, but getting the game at home should help. Notre Dame was rolled up by Providence on Saturday, but don't let that fool you. At 20-6, they're a solid squad. Notre Dame has some quality wins this year against the likes of Louisville, Kentucky, and Cincinnati.

Thing is, they're not a great road team. They're 3-3 there, but two of the wins came against DePaul and South Florida. They beat Cincinnati on the road, but also lost to Providence and St. John's. At the Pete, Pitt has a nice advantage.

I'm cautiously optimistic about this one and think Pitt has a good chance to win. To do that, though, the Panthers need some good bounceback games from frontcourt guys Talib Zanna and Steven Adams. Neither played all that well against Marquette and Pitt needs to get a good bit from them.

Game time is at 7:00 p.m. Stop back here to comment live during the game.
