2013 Pitt recruit Mike Young has had a big year. And now along with Syracuse-bound Tyler Ennis, he helped his St. Benedict's team to the New Jersey Prep Championship, winning 93-47 over Blair Academy. With the win, they avenged an earlier loss to Blair. They are 28-1 with that sole loss coming to Blair earlier in the season and ranked in the top ten in the nation according to MaxPreps.
Ennis had a big game with 28 points and 12 assists, but Young helped lead the way with 23 points and ten big rebounds.
Young has been nothing but a dominant player for the team. I've said it before, but it's worth repeating - Young will have a good chance to come in next season and play right away. With the loss of Dante Taylor for next season and the transfer of Malcolm Gilbert, Young should be playing in the frontcourt if only by necessity for warm bodies. And having Young to push Talib Zanna, who's been in a bit of a slump lately, will be a good thing.
