Pitt vs. Villanova: Open Gamethread

USA TODAY Sports

The home finale is upon us as Pitt will take on Villanova today on senior day.

For the Panthers, it marks the final home game for seniors Tray Woodall and Dante Taylor. Woodall's had a pretty nice career and while Taylor never reached the heights most thought he would, he's at least become a solid contributor.

It's a big game for Pitt. You can argue that it's far more important for Villanova to win this one, but that doesn't mean Pitt can afford a loss here. If that happens, the team's ceiling for seeding in the NCAAs probably drops a full seed. Villanova's a good team, but there's no question a loss would hurt the Panthers.

Nova's going to be coming out firing since this game could secure their NCAA hopes. Pitt needs to match that intensity or else it could be a long day. If the Wildcats can beat teams like Louisville and Syracuse, a win in Oakland isn't out of the question.

Game time's at noon. I'll be a little late to the party, but join us here to comment live during the game.
