With two wins, Pitt moved up in the college basketball rankings this week

Pitt won games this past week against South Florida and Villanova and moved up a few spots in the most recent college basketball polls in the process.

The Panthers moved up three spots in each. In the AP poll, they went from No. 23 to No. 20 and in the USA Today Coaches Poll, they went from an unranked 26th up to 23rd.

Pitt will have one more shot at moving up in the polls before the conference tournament. The good news? They should do it. The Panthers' only game this week is against DePaul over the weekend and even though it's a road game, Pitt will be facing one of the worst teams in the Big east.

This is really a case of needing to finish strong. Pitt beat South Florida and after a big struggle, topped Villanova this week at home. The Panthers can't afford to lose a game carelessly and as long as they come out with intensity and are focused, they should have little trouble with DePaul. A win and the Panthers could approach the top 15 in the AP poll next week.
