Rutgers transfer Eli Carter considering Pitt

Jeff Hanisch-US PRESSWIRE

And with that tweet, Rutgers transfer, guard Eli Carter, confirmed that he's interested in potentially coming to Pitt.

That's good news, obviously. Carter isn't a great shooter and has some turnover issues (we'll go over this tomorrow), but he gives Pitt something they desperately need - a viable scoring threat. That scoring was on display last year when he went for 23 in Rutgers' win against Panthers this past season.

Also, factor in that Carter could be eligible this fall if the NCAA grants him a special waiver to play immediately as they did Trey Zeigler last season. If the Mike Rice situation isn't a special one, I don't know what is.

Count 2013 Pitt recruit Mike Young as those that want him to come:

I haven't yet checked on where those other teams stand in terms of guards, but if he came to Pitt, he would play right away. And while head coach Jamie Dixon seems to like Cam Wright, I could see Carter starting over him if he proves to be a good fit right away and shows he can play defense.

Again, we'll have more on this tomorrow.
