Pitt takes on Cincinnati in weekend baseball series

USA TODAY Sports

This weekend, Pitt's baseball team gets back on the field against Cincinnati for three Big East games. The series kicks off with a Saturday doubleheader that will be televised by ESPN3.

Pitt is one of the hottest teams in the conference, and is fresh off a sweep against Rutgers last weekend. They've won nine of their past ten games.

One thing to watch is if the Panthers' third starter, Rhys Aldenhoven, returns to action. Aldenhoven missed last week's series due to an injury, and when Pitt announced their probable starters, as of Friday, Aldenhoven's spot on Sunday was still undecided. Last week in his place, outfielder Casey Roche stepped in and three seven solid innings, giving up three runs and helping Pitt go on to a 6-3 victory.

At 9-3, Pitt sits second in the Big East - one game behind leader, South Florida. The Bulls are playing St. John's in a three-game series this weekend.
