Pitt loses out on Rutgers transfer Eli Carter

USA TODAY Sports

Rutgers transfer Eli Carter doesn't seem to be wasting any time in his search for a new school. He recently received his release from the Scarlet Knights program and had a list of six schools he was looking at, including Pitt.

On Friday, though, Pitt fell out of the running as Carter named his final two:

That's unfortunate for Pitt. As I said earlier, he had some flaws, but would have given the Panthers' backcourt some needed scoring punch. Carter has real scoring ability and can get to the free throw line. Pitt's other options at shooting guard right now, aren't wildly impressive. Losing out on him and 2013 recruit Jon Severe has been a bit disappointing. Neither is the end of the world, but ... well, one of them could have helped.

Jamie Dixon still has some work to do, folks.
