Recently, I mentioned that the Arizona Cardinals were cutting ties with running back and return specialist, LaRod Stephens-Howling. He wasn't re-signed by the Cards and is now searching for a new home.
Enter the local team, the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Stephens-Howling visited the team on Wednesday. It was his first stop on his free agency tour. Recently, SB Nation's Steelers blog, Behind the Steel Curtain, wondered about the potential fit between the back and the team.
If he signs, Stephens-Howling could actually see playing time for the team. The Steelers lost Rashard Mendenhall and could use another back to go along with Jonathan Dwyer. After that, the running back situation is pretty murky in Pittsburgh. How much he plays (if signed, that is) would depend on who else the Steelers bring into camp and who they draft this spring.
And while he hasn't returned as many kicks recently, that's another skill set that Stephens-Howling brings to the table that could be an attraction.
