The official preseason AP Top 25 college football poll was released on Sunday. The Panthers didn’t get into the rankings, but did manage to grab some votes for inclusion by media members.
Securing 15 total points, PItt unofficially finished 34th in the poll as the ninth highest team receiving any votes. That’s significantly higher than the 41st ranking the team received in the USA Today Coaches Poll where they had only eight points.
ACC teams making it into the Top 25 were No. 2 Clemson, No. 4 Florida State, No. 19 Louisville, and No. 22 North Carolina. The Tar Heels were the only ACC Coastal team ranked but fellow Division foe Miami was just outside the Top 25, finishing 26th.
Locally, Pitt was the only team to secure votes with both West Virginia and Penn State receiving no points in the initial poll.
Here’s a look at both preseason poll.
