The Pitt wrestling team has a short trip to the national championships this year as the City of Pittsburgh is hosting the event. In all, five Panthers will make the trip to downtown Pittsburgh to participate.
Four Panthers qualified automatically in Micky Phillippi (133 pounds), Taleb Rahmani (157 pounds), Nino Bonaccorsi (184 pounds), and Demetrius Thomas (Heavyweight). 197-pounder Kellan Stout also got a bid after the ACC Tournament.
Seedings have been released and Phillippi, as expected, earned the highest one, checking in at No. 4. Thomas also has a top ten seed as the No. 8 heavyweight. Rahmani is No. 12, Bonaccorsi No. 13, and Stout No. 23. All of those correlate somewhat to their weight class rankings.
The Tournament will be held at PPG Paints Arena. It kicks off on March 21 and runs through March 23.
