For the third consecutive year, Pitt won’t be playing in the NCAA Tournament. The Panthers did improve but not nearly enough to reach the major postseason event. In case you haven’t seen it yet, here’s the full bracket courtesy of NCAA.com.
However, while Pitt can’t win it all, a team from the conference in which they play could. Maybe even should. In fact, as you would probably expect, the ACC is the odds on, without a doubt favorite to win the whole thing.
In looking at the latest March Madness prop odds, NCAA Sportsbook TopBet lists the ACC as the heavy favorite to win the tournament. That, of course, makes perfect sense, given the conference’s top heaviness with Duke, North Carolina, and Virginia. All three teams are No. 1 seeds and the conference even has a pair of others, Florida State and Virginia Tech, as No. 4 seeds. With three of the top four teams and five of the top 16, it’d be pretty difficult to make a case for anyone else unless you’ve really fallen in love with a specific team from outside of the conference.
After the ACC, TopBet has the Big Ten and the SEC, respectively, with the next best chances to have a team win it all.
With no Pitt, who’s your pick to win the whole thing?
