Pitt head coach Jeff Capel and his staff added a key recruit to their 2020 class on Tuesday, as Femi Odukale, a versatile point guard and highly skilled defender out of Springfield Commonwealth Academy in Springfield, Massachusetts, committed to the program.

Rivals and 247Sports both consider Odukale a three-star recruit, and the native of Brooklyn, New York, reeled in 10 scholarship offers over the course of his recruitment. Aside from Pitt, the interested parties of note included St. Bonaventure, Seton Hall, UMass, Virginia Tech and Washington State. Odukale pared his list down to a final three of Pitt, Seton Hall and UMass after paying visits to the three top contenders and St. Bonaventure.

During his senior season at Springfield Commonwealth Academy, the 6’5”, 194-pound point guard averaged 17.2 points, 8.1 assists, 8.2 rebounds and 2.7 steals per game. He also shot 40 percent from beyond the arc. So depending on how readily his varied skill set transitions to the college level, he could address a number of Pitt’s most glaring deficiencies from the last two seasons.

With Odukale in the fold, Capel's 2020 recruiting class is up to four members, with the others being frontcourt prospects Max Amadasun, Noah Collier and John Hugley. The class could also grow in the near future, as Ryan Murphy is transferring out of the program, which will open up a scholarship.
