Pitt football head coach Todd Graham secured a verbal commitment from running back Corey Davis out of Texas.
Davis had been a Tulsa commit, but when Graham moved, he moved with him.
Graham remained in contact with Davis and now has a verbal commitment from him:
"I committed today to be a Panther," Davis told PantherLair.com via text message Saturday afternoon.
Davis had a huge senior season in high school this year rushing for 1,750 yards and 28 touchdowns. The thing that I like is that he did it on a bad team that was 3-7. Teams were probably keying in on him and he still was able to put up those kind of numbers.
Rivals projects him as a two-star, while Scout has him as a three-star.
Depending on who else Pitt is able to snare, Davis could see some time this season. Chris Burns and T.J. Peeler are the only other two backs on the team to my knowledge behind Ray Graham, so Davis could be in the mix right away.
This should be a busy week as Pitt had several recruits in town recently.
