With National Signing Day approaching, head coach Paul Chryst is still working on adding pieces for 2012. On Tuesday, he got a verbal from cornerback/running back Ryan Lewis.

While Lewis racked up 25 touchdowns and more than 1,700 yards (though this site says he may have been behind the best offensive line in the state), it sounds as if he's projected to play cornerback at Pitt. Rivals rates him as a three-star recruit, while Scout gives him only two. Both sites say his other offers included Utah and Colorado.

As I've mentioned, Pitt is going to have plenty of competition in a secondary that's starting to get crowded ... especially with several more recruits from this year expected to go there.

Lewis is the nephew of former Pitt cornerback Tim Lewis and his dad, Will Lewis (who works in the Seattle Seahawks' front office) is the cousin of current Pitt player Tristan Roberts.
