Been meaning to get to this, but Gary McGhee's been busy lately. After averaging nearly a double double while playing in Turkey last year (10.5 points and 7.8 rebounds a contest), McGhee's back in the states and not ready to give up on his NBA dream.
I mentioned this over the weekend, but McGhee's suiting up in the NBA's summer leagues in Orlando and Las Vegas for the Oklahoma City Thunder and then the Los Angeles Clippers. McGhee talked a bit about his time with the Thunder after a recent game:
"It’s been a really great experience being with the organization," McGhee said. "They definitely have a great facility, great coaches that look forward to developing their players. The coaches definitely have helped me on the side, helping me with a couple things to help my game and my development. So I definitely have been enjoying myself and taking advantage of this opportunity that I’ve had."
But he's also had a bit more going on.McGhee also played in an Indy Pro-Am league recently and, off the court, he had Lasik eye surgery to improve his vision:
He recently underwent Lasik eye surgery to improve his vision. After a couple of early bumps in the road, things have cleared up for him.
"It took me a couple of weeks. Everything was kind of bleary early on," McGhee said. "I just had a checkup and I’m seeing 20/20 now and it feels good."
Makes you wonder how much his vision affected him before.
