That sound you hear is another one of Pitt's offensive linemen biting the dust.
This time, it's guard Arthur Doakes who will be taking a seat. Doakes, though, isn't injured - he's suspended:
The line is already a patchwork job, we all know that. And ever since the season-opening suspension to Juantez Hollins, all eyes have been on what is already a questionable unit. Ryan Schlieper went down to an injury earlier in the year and that opened up a starting job for Doakes. Now, he'll give way to someone new - presumably Shane Johnson, who's listed next on the depth chart.
Quarterback Tino Sunseri has done a little better avoiding sacks this year, though he's still taken his fair share. Unfortunately the offensive line affects the running game just as much as the passing game, so it's going to be interesting to see how the playcalling is affected if the line play is spotty. And yeah, it'd be nice if we could avoid the offensive line penalties that have plagued the team all year. But with another new starter, things could get worse in that respect.
No exact reason was given for the suspension - it's only being called for a violation of team policy. But the Post-Gazette's Sam Werner says it could last more than one game.
Well, that ain't good.
