Pitt Outfielder Casey Roche named NCBWA First-Team Preseason All-American

Pitt baseball had a banner season last year winning a school record 42 wins. Things will get more difficult in the tough ACC this year, but the Panthers will hope to carry their momentum into this season.

The Panthers have one of the best players in college baseball, Casey Roche, who was just named as a preseason First-Team All-American by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA).

Roche had a great year last season as both a position player and a pitcher. He batted .338 for the Panthers and had 12 home runs, and also went 5-3 on the mound with three saves. He was a Third Team NCBWA All-American pick at the end of the year.

The baseball program has been building some solid momentum and playing the ACC should help continue that along. The schedule will get more difficult, but with Pitt's facilities and in a new conference, recruiting should get better, too.
