Bowling Green head coach Dave Clawson reportedly leaving for Wake Forest

Andrew Weber-USA TODAY Sports

Pitt has played a bowl game with an interim coach and now they might face one.

Bowling Green's head coach Dave Clawson is reportedly leaving the team to head to the ACC and coach the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. Wake is looking for a new coach after Jim Grobe stepped down and could have their man in Clawson.

Clawson won ten games this season and also won the MAC title.

Focus now turns to the Little Caesars Bowl game, obviously. We don't know if Clawson will stick around for that game or not, but several weeks away, there's a good chance he doesn't. Smack in the middle of the season, Clawson won't have much time to build his class at Wake Forest and with Grobe's departure will certainly come some turnover.

Pitt facing a team with an interim coach would have to be a positive on some level, but how much it counts for is anybody's guess.

Stay tuned.
