Pitt's baseball team completed a big sweep last weekend over Wichita State. Now at 3-0, the Panthers picked up some votes in this week's college baseball rankings over at NCAA.com.
Pitt wasn't ranked among the top 30 teams, but they convinced at least a few voters apparently that they deserve to be in that group. Based on where they're listed in the rankings, Pitt comes in at No. 45 in the latest standings. They're also the third Big East team listed. Louisville is the only conference school ranked and Notre Dame is ahead of the Panthers in the 'Others receiving votes' category.
And as if that weren't enough, outfielder Casey Roche was Big East Player of the Week as he went 8-14 with two home runs against Wichita State.
The season is just underway, but Pitt is off to a solid start. Next up for the Panthers is Wofford next weekend in South Carolina.
