Pitt basketball targets Khadeen Carrington and Jon Severe participating in CHSAA Championships

A couple of Pitt basketball recruiting targets could square off against each other this week in the CHSAA Championships.

2014 shooting guard Khadeen Carrington helped lead his Bishop Loughlin team to victory with 21 points, winning over Iona Prep. Meanwhile 2013 shooting guard Jon Severe had 14 points despite being sick, leading his Christ the King team over St. Peter's. Each team plays in the semifinals on Thursday and if they win, the recruits will face each other in the finals.

Pitt has been closely following both players. Head coach Jamie Dixon watched Carrington in action this season and as I said last week, Severe is on Dixon's radar as well.

Despite the need for frontcourt players, Pitt could use a shooting guard as I mentioned recently. So while a power forward or center would be nice, I can understand the pursuit of these guys. Even though they're in different classes, it will be interesting to see if Pitt continues pursuing Carrington if they land Severe for the 2013 class. At some point, a big man has to become a priority.
