Casey Roche has monster day for Pitt baseball

Jesse Johnson-USA TODAY Sports

After suffering a sweep last weekend at the hands of South Florida, Pitt's baseball team got back on track with a 24-7 blowout win against Youngstown State (and no, that's not a football score). Unlike that series against the Bulls, Pitt had plenty of offense in this one. Outfielder Casey Roche led the way.

No one had a bigger day than Roche. The outfielder was 5-7 on the day, hit for the cycle (including a grand slam), and had a whopping ten RBI.

Yeah, that's about as big of a day as you can have. I've not been able to find out the last time a Pitt player had as big of a game, but head coach Joe Jordano said afterwards that it's been a long time since he can recall someone hitting for the cycle. And that's not even talking about anyone who hit a grand slam while doing so while piling up that many RBI.

Next up for Pitt is a home weekend series against ranked Notre Dame.
