I've been following the college baseball polls pretty closely this season. For most of the year, Pitt's only been ranked by the Collegiate Baseball Poll. But that changed this week as the Panthers have finally found their way into all of the major polls after yet another sweep.
The team's wins over Villanova this weekend pushed them into the rankings spotlight. The Panthers are #16 in the Collegiate Baseball poll, #21 in the Baseball America poll, and #23 in the Coaches Poll, the NCBWA Poll, and the Perfect Game poll. The Coaches Poll and Perfect Games rankings were the first ones in the program's history.
Pretty cool to see the baseball program's success this season, and now, the recognition they're starting to get. And with the big series against Louisville this weekend, more eyes are on the baseball program than perhaps there ever has been.
Before that series, though, Pitt has a game against Kent State on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. That's the home finale for the Panthers.
