Pittsburgh a Finalist to Host NCAA Women's Basketball Final Four

Justin K. Aller

Quick side note here, but Pitt put together a bid with the Consol Center to host the an upcoming NCAA Women's Final Four in 2017 - 2020.

The City of Pittsburgh actually has fairly decent odds as they are one of seven finalists named to potentially host the event in one of those years. With seven spots for four opportunities, there's a better than 50/50 chance that the Consol Center gets one of those.

Other finalists include Columbus, Dallas, Houston, Nashville, New Orleans, and Tampa Bay. The interesting thing there is that five of those six teams are in the south. You'd like to think that if the goal is to move the event around the country, that Pittsburgh's chances might be even better.

The ideal situation, of course, is that Suzie McConnell-Serio gets the basketball program turned around and can compete for a Final Four should it come to Pittsburgh. Yeah, that could be a ways off ...
