Pitt did not have any players selected on the preseason ACC team. That team included UNC's Marcus Paige (Preseason POY), Montrezl Harrell of Louisville, Jahlil Okafor of Duke, Malcolm Brogdon of Virginia, and Notre Dame's Jerian Grant.
This is the exact place Pitt was picked to finish in last year, and they ended up finishing fifth. Considering the Panthers didn't add a huge amount of talent, I think it's fair to have them where they are and I expect them to have a similar season to last year. Unlike last year, they have a pretty challenging schedule, and face Louisville twice in addition to Syracuse. They'll have plenty of opportunities for quality wins to bolster their NCAA Tournament profile. The team may struggle early without Cam Wright (especially at Maui), but things usually find a way to work out with Jamie Dixon.
If you're looking for a refresher on where each team in the ACC is at coming into the season, we've been having daily rundowns here at Cardiac Hill. You can check out the first one on Virginia Tech here.
