Pitt pulled off a nice win in their first ACC game of the year in defeating Virginia Tech on the road. As you might expect, they were rewarded in this week's power rankings. Below is how I slot the conference's teams after this past weekend but let me know what I got right/wrong.
Ranking | Previous | School | Record | Notes |
1 | 1 | Clemson | 4-0 | Big win over a top ten Notre Dame team keeps them on top |
2 | 2 | Florida State | 4-0 | Another fairly unimpressive win over lowly Wake Forest |
3 | 5 | Duke |
4-1 | Narrow 9-7 win over Boston College moves them up |
4 | 6 | North Carolina |
4-1 |
38-31 win over Georgia Tech moves them up |
5 | 8 |
Pitt | 3-1 | Won over Virginia Tech on the road |
6 | 12 |
Louisville |
2-3 | 20-13 win over North Carolina State moves them up several spots |
7 | 3 | North Carolina State |
4-1 | Fall below Louisville after head-to-head loss |
8 | 4 | Miami |
3-1 |
34-23 loss to Cincinnati means a big drop |
9 | 11 | Syracuse |
3-1 | Move up a couple of spots during bye week |
10 | 9 | Boston College |
3-2 |
Drop one after loss to Duke |
11 | 7 | Georgia Tech |
2-3 | Falling fast after third straight loss |
12 | 10 | Virginia Tech |
2-3 | Drop a couple of spots after Pitt loss |
13 | 13 | Wake Forest | 2-3 | Respectable 24-16 loss to Florida State |
14 | 14 | Virginia | 1-3 | Bye week keeps them in the basement |
