If you were hoping that the Pitt football team could avoid getting a swelled head going into this year, you got a bit of good news on Monday. Today at the ACC Media Days session, the Panthers were picked to finish a relatively modest third by the media in the ACC's Coastal Division.
With 14 first-place votes, Pitt finished well behind North Carolina (121 first-place votes) and Miami (50).
The Coastal was much more undecided than the Atlantic. In the Coastal, every team except for Virginia had at least one first-place vote. The Atlantic predictions were dominated by Clemson and Florida State with Louisville the only team to receive any (and they only got one).
Recently, Vegas had Pitt tied for second place here in terms of best odds to win the Division, so that's mostly in line with their standing here.
Personally, third is about where I'd place Pitt right now. I can see them contending for the Division but am not confident enough to say they're going to win it with questions about the passing attack and defense. It's entirely fair to slot them behind North Carolina and Miami right now.
Where do you expect Pitt to finish in the Division? Weigh in using the poll below.
