Pitt volleyball remains highest ACC team in rankings

Angela Seman 2017 Volleyball

The Pitt women’s volleyball team isn’t ranked in the Top 25 of the AVCA Coaches Poll, but the Panthers are still slotted the highest among all ACC teams.

In the most recent poll released this week, Pitt No. 33 as the eighth highest team receiving votes. The Panthers received only three points but no other ACC team is listed in the Top 25 or the Others Receiving Votes category.

Pitt wasn’t ranked last week, either, but they had accumulated more votes. After losing to NC State on Sunday, it isn’t a surprise that they have fewer this week. The Panthers remain tied with the Wolfpack in the ACC standings (both are 9-1) but Pitt has the better overall record (16-5 to NC State’s 14-7).

Despite the loss, the Panthers are still in pretty good shape in the conference and should have a chance to win it.
