For five years now the Clemson Tigers have owned ACC football and, from the point of view of the preseason, 2020 looks no different. However, there are some teams with really good position groups out there -- maybe not as talented as Clemson overall, but talented enough to put up a pretty good fight!
Best ACC position groups (outside of Clemson)
QB - UNC (Sam Howell)
RB - UNC (Michael Carter, Javonte Williams)
WR - UNC (Dyami Brown, Dazz Newsome,
TE - Miami (Brevin Jordan)
OL - Boston College (Ben Petrula, Tyler Vrabel, Alec Lindstrom, Zion Johnson)
S - Pitt (Paris Ford, Damar Hamlin)
CB - Virginia Tech (Caleb Farley, Jermaine Waller, Chamarri Conner)
LB - Virginia Tech (Rayshard Ashby, Dax Hollifield)
DL - Pitt (Jalen Twyman, Patrick Jones, Rashad Weaver)
ST - Virginia Tech (Oscar Bradburn [P], Tayvion Robinson [PR], Brian Johnson [PK])
This list is dominated by three Coastal Division teams: UNC, Pitt and Virginia Tech. I believe one of those will represent that division in the ACC Championship Game — most likely against Clemson. It could be a much better game than people expect!
