The Pitt volleyball season, assuming it is indeed played, will be here before we know it. And the program recently announced its co-captains for the year in Kayla Lund and Chinaza Ndee.
Frankly, anything else would have been a surprise. Both are returning All-Americans and Lund was the ACC Player of the Year last season. Lund was a Second Team All-American while Ndee was an Honorable Mention. Both are seniors and with several key departures after last season, these were the two most logical options. Anything else, frankly, would have been a surprise.
“Kayla [Lund] and Chinaza [Ndee] are great leaders and even better humans,” head coach Dan Fisher said. “They’ve proven their leadership and over the last three years, especially this past year. I have the utmost faith in these two seniors as our captains.”
Play is expected to begin in September but a schedule has not been set yet. Pitt is expected to play at least ten conference matches but an exact number, as well as the number of non-conference opponents, has not yet been determined. And of course, if the season is delayed even further due to concerns about the COVID-19 virus is still up in the air.
