Pitt fans were disappointed when the team slipped to sixth last week, but this week there should be no arguments. Despite losing to Louisville on the road, Pitt actually moved up in the polls.
Pitt remained fourth in the AP poll (well, actually a tie for fourth with Duke), but jumped up two spots to fourth in the ESPN/USA Today poll.
Fourth is exactly where I would have slotted the Panthers, but I'm surprised that they moved up in the rankings. After losing, I expected Pitt to slide to seventh or eighth, despite the fact that other teams in the top six had lost as well.
Ohio State, Kansas, and BYU are the top three teams in both polls. The Big East was once again dominant in the polls, placing four teams in the top 12 and eight in the top 20. That's pretty remarkable - nearly half of the top 20 teams are from one conference.
