The rosters are out for the Greentree Summer League and I've got to say, I like how the Pitt players are split up for the most part.
All eyes will be on one team in particular, though - in my opinion.
PantherLair has a great breakdown of the teams and where the Pitt players are. But one team stands above the rest at least in terms of intrigue:
Team: Center Court
Pitt players: John Johnson, J.J. Moore, Khem Birch
Best non-Pitt player: Lance Jeter
Why they could win it all: This team could be the most talented in the league. Jeter dominated the league last year and can serve a variety of different roles. This team has two solid options at point guard, with the more experienced Velton Jones and incoming freshman John Johnson. In order for this team to win the league, Moore and Birch will need to be playing at a high level. Moore is ultra talented and can score. Birch could be the x-factor on the inside. Pittsburgh basketball fans will also get to see local product Tom Droney in this setting after his freshman season at Davidson.
Birch and Moore on the same team makes this one probably my favorite. Then you add another freshman, John Johnson, to the mix and this is the team I'll be paying the most attention to. Plus, Tom Droney, a local kid and former potential Pitt recruit, is there making this a good team to follow.
These aren't the only kids I'm looking forward to, though. After this group, I'm real interested in seeing what Isaiah Epps will be able to do. There wererumors that he had kind of fallen out of favor with Pitt and was behind a bit, so it will be good to see where he stacks up against other college players.
