For as hard as I try to ignore it, the National Football League does exist and there are folks out there who take interest in such vapid things. As such, with the NFL Draft a month away, mock drafts are springing up all over the internet. Since Pitt has established a fruitful pipeline to the pros over the years, it's interesting to see where this year's Panthers fall on the draft board.

ESPN's prjections are out in full force and several Pitt players are expected to be taken.

ESPN's Andrea Adelson broke down where draft analyst Todd McShay is projecting Big East players to go. Here's where the Pitt guys fall:

-Brandon Lindsey, LB/DE: Fifth round

-Lucas Nix, OG: Fifth round

-Chas Alexcih, DT: Sixth round

-Antwuan Reed, DB: Seventh round

I certainly agree that Lindsey is the most talented Panther in this year's draft, even though he had a bit of a down year compared to his stellar 2010 campaign when he earned second team All-Big East honors and ranked 16th nationally in both sacks and tackles for losses.

One noticeable omission from McShay's list was linebacker Max Gruder, who earned second team All-Big East honors this year and led Pitt in tackles in 2009 and 2011.

As always with projections, take these for what they're worth. Now, back to Spring Training and spring ball for me.
