Ashton Gibbs wasn't taken in Thursday's NBA Draft, but he might not have to wait long to catch on with a summer league team.

Early reports indicate he could be headed to the Brooklyn Nets.

Gibbs apparently has an offer from the Nets, but is taking his time to see what else is out there:

Former Pitt guard Ashton Gibbs, who wasn’t selected in Thursday’s NBA Draft, said he received an offer to play for the Brooklyn Nets’ summer league team but is mulling other opportunities.

Gibbs, the Panthers’ career leader in 3-pointers and attempts, said the Nets showed the most interest, but he remains a free agent.

"It was a tough draft since I wasn’t drafted, but now it’s my opportunity to show what teams missed," Gibbs said Friday.

Gibbs worked out for the Nets, and as I said when he was projected to be taken by them late, it wouldn't be a huge surprise if he ended up there.

Just because Gibbs hasn't taken their offer yet doesn't mean he can't end up with the team. He also worked out for a number of teams including the Los Angeles Lakers, San Antonio Spurs, Miami Heat, Minnesota Timberwolves, Phoenix Suns, Indiana Pacers, and Los Angeles Clippers. Having done so, he's worked out for more than 1/4 of the league, so he's obviously hoping some many offers present themselves.

I'm sure Gibbs would have preferred to be drafted, but being a free agent isn't all that bad as he can look for a good situation.
