2013 Pitt basketball target BeeJay Anya should be checking in with the Panthers soon about making an official visit to the school soon. Anya already has some visits set up, but should be making some more trips as well according to ZagsBlog:
The 6-foot-8 center out of DeMatha Catholic already has officials set for Ohio State (Oct. 5) and Indiana (Oct. 19), but DeMatha coach Mike Jones is working on setting visits for Syracuse, Pittsburgh and N.C. State.
The article mentions that the weekend of October 12th is probably out since Anya will be having homecoming at his school during that time. And as Bryan mentioned earlier this month, Jamie Dixon recently visited him.
Anya, one of the top rated centers, is understandably getting a lot of Pitt's attention. That makes even more sense when you think of the makeup of the team. Dante Taylor is a senior this year and depending on how incoming freshman Steven Adams plays, he could be a one-and-done. That leaves only Malcolm Gilbert in the middle for 2013-14. Mix in the fact that Gilbert didn't show all that much last season (especially offensively), and Pitt could really be thin at center if Adams decides to bolt. Gilbert was only a freshman so it's far too early to decide what kind of career he can have, but I'd definitely feel more comfortable if the team had at least another option.
Pitt shouldn't just want Anya - in my opinion they need him.
