Pitt played only once since the last rankings came out, beating DePaul for the second time this season this past Saturday on the road. Despite a victory over a weak conference team, that was enough to move the Panthers up a few spots in the latest college basketball polls.
Pitt checks in this week at No. 17 in the AP poll and No. 19 in the USA Today Coaches Poll. The team moved up three places in each.
That was good enough to check the team in as the fourth highest Big East team behind only Louisville, Georgetown, and Marquette. The win coupled with a Syracuse loss to Georgetown was enough to move Pitt ahead of the Orange.
In case you've not seen them yet, here are the complete polls for this week. And if you're into them, Pitt fared slightly better in the latest ESPN.com power rankings, checking in at 16th this week.
