Time for another edition of my weekly conference power rankings. As a point of reference, I've indicated how many spots each team has risen or fallen since the last rankings.
I should be doing this after today's action since there are a lot of big matchups, but if I don't do this now, not sure when I'll be able to get to it.
So here we go:
1. Georgetown (--)
2. Louisville (+3)
3. Marquette (--)
4. Notre Dame (--)
5. Pitt (+1)
6. Syracuse (-4)
7. UConn (--)
8. Providence (+1)
9. Villanova (+1)
10. St. John's (+1)
11. Cincinnati (-3)
12. Rutgers (--)
13. Seton Hall (--)
14. DePaul (--)
15. South Florida (--)
The sinking ships of the week are Cincinnati and Syracuse. Once ranked in the top ten, the Bearcats have fallen on hard times. The team has won only once in their past six games and are sinking like a rock. Unfortunately, that's not great for Pitt since the Bearcats were once counted among their quality wins.
Syracuse, meanwhile, is in the middle of a rough patch themselves. They've lost three out of five and five of their past nine. Because of that freefall, Pitt moves up a spot. They've won more than the Orange and they also beat them head to head.
