Pitt baseball team ranked No. 30 in latest poll

Pitt's baseball team has its first ranking in three years as the team was slotted at No. 30 in the latest Collegiate Baseball Poll. The Panthers' weekend sweep over St. John's was enough to get them into the rankings. Somewhat surprisingly, as of Tuesday night, Pitt hadn't even received votes in the other major polls.

No. 17 Louisville and No. 18 Notre Dame are the only two Big East programs currently ranked ahead of the Panthers.

As was mentioned earlier this season, the Panthers had come close to being ranked before, picking up some votes after the team's season opening sweep over Wichita State.

Obviously this is only a positive for the program. They've had some success in recent years and this year have gotten off to an amazing start. The Panthers are combining solid pitching with plenty of offense and it will be interesting to see how they fare once Big East gets into full swing.
