Pitt vs. IUP: Open Gamethread

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

Pitt basketball season is finally here. That's even more welcome based on how the football program has fared over the past months.

The Panthers play an exhibition game tonight against IUP to officially kick off the season. It's not a regular season game, but it will be treated like one. Jamie Dixon may be a little more loose with the lineup, but with so many new/young players, you can bet that he wants to use the team's two exhibition games to help sort out his roster.

Cardiac Hill will be live on the scene as JD, former Zoo leader and resident contributor, will be at the game hanging out in the media section. Afterwards, he'll have an update and he'll try to hang out in the open thread for a while.

Pitt should win, obviously, but you might remember that a couple of years ago, IUP actually gave Pitt a game, losing by a fairly respectable 15 points as a D-II program. IUP is ranked No. 9 in Division II and factoring in the injury to Cam Wright and Durand Johnson still getting healthy, a 50-point win might not be in the cards.

Not sure what kind of turnout we'll have since the game isn't televised, but hopefully you'll join us and comment here in the gamethread if you're around. Like I said, it's not on TV and won't even be on the radio, but you can follow along on CBS Sports' game tracker. If you're around, drop in and see what's going on during the game while you're passing out Halloween candy to greedy little kids dressed up in cheap plastic costumes.

Did I say that out loud?

Gametime at 7:00 p.m. Stop by and comment live during the game.
