Pitt basketball gets two ESPN Big Monday dates in 2014-15 season

Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sport

So I'm pretty ridiculously late on this, but I like to throw this kind of stuff out there even if it's after the fact, knowing that many casual fans may not see it.

Pitt's basketball team will get two games on ESPN's Big Monday this season. The Panthers will play Duke on January 19th and Virginia on February 16th. Both games will start at 7:00 p.m. Overall, Pitt has been on Big Monday a total of 28 times.

You might remember that Pitt had the chance to host Duke last year on Big Monday.

The big downside is that both games are on the road, so ESPN won't be traveling to The Pete as part of their Big Monday series. Playing in front of a huge audience on TV is great, though, and while it'd be nice to have at least one of those games at home, at least Pitt gets the added exposure.

Overall, something like that is just a great tool to use for recruiting. And when you factor in that one of the games is against Duke, that just makes it that much bigger.
