Pitt vs. Western Michigan: Open Gamethread

Syndication: The Knoxville News-Sentinel Caitie McMekin/News Sentinel via Imagn Content Services, LLC

Pitt and Western Michigan are seeing each other first the first time today at Heinz Field at noon. As of Saturday morning, Pitt is listed as a 14.5-point favorite.

We mentioned in the game picks that Western Michigan has three Pittsburgh area players in Skyy Moore, Therran Coleman, and Bricen Garner. The latter two are actually transfers from Pitt and both contributed during their time here. For another fun wrinkle: the head coach of Western Michigan actually interviewed for Pitt’s offensive coordinator position after Matt Canada’s departure. At the time, Lester was quarterbacks coach for Purdue, after previously serving under Scott Shafer at Syracuse. Lester was eventually hired to be Western Michigan’s head coach a few weeks prior to Pat Narduzzi making the hire of Shawn Watson official.

This is likely to be a game that isn’t a giant blow out, but should hopefully not have Pitt in danger of losing for very long. Pitt-Western Michigan will kick off at 12 P.M. EST, and is not available through traditional TV means. The ESPN app, and other streaming services such as FuboTV, Hulu Live TV, SlingTV, Vidgo and YouTubeTV should have the game, but it’s hard to know in today’s media rights environment. Either way, join the Cardiac Hill community and comment here during the game
