In back to back weeks, four Panthers received ACC Player of the Week honors

Pittsburgh Panthers continue to gain ACC recognition

NCAA Football: Pittsburgh at Miami Jasen Vinlove-USA TODAY Sports

The Pittsburgh Panthers capped off the regular season in Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium and put up a dominant performance on both sides of the ball. The Panthers defeated the Miami Hurricanes 42-16 to finish the regular season at 8-4. Well to cap off this performance four Panthers players were named all-ACC this week. The four awards that the Panthers took home this week were ACC Reciever of the Week, ACC Defensive lineman of the Week, ACC Defensive Back of the Week, and ACC Rookie of the Week.

Receiver of the Week:

Jared Wayne was a pivotable part of the offense this week with 11 catches for 199 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Defensive Lineman of the Week:

Dayon Hayes had the week of his college career against the Hurricanes collecting 4 tackles for loss and 3 sacks this week.

Defensive Back of the Week:

Erick Hallett II had 7 tackles this week including 2 forced fumbles and a fumble recovery to hold the Hurricane’s offense down for the count.

Rookie of the Week:

Javon McIntyre had his first career interception this week as well as a tackle for loss and 2 pass breakups to be another one of the many dominant forces on the Pitt Defense this week.

If there is one thing that this week’s contest showed it is that the Panthers are not a bad football team in the slightest, they had some games not go their way in the middle of the schedule, but they more than made up for it in the back half. Next for the Panthers will be to find out which bowl game they will be selected to play in.
