Extremely excited to announce that I am officially committed to play football at the University of Pittsburgh!!
— Kraig Howe (@KraigHowe) June 17, 2014
Kraig Howe announced via his Twitter that he has committed to play for Paul Chryst and the Pitt Panthers. Howe is a 6"3 262 pound defensive tackle from Kettering, Ohio. He is listed as a three star by all four major recruiting services. Rivals calls him the 37th best tackle in the country, and the 33rd ranked player from the state of Ohio. He chooses the Panthers over notable offers from Boston College, Illinois, Iowa State, and Northwestern.
Howe becomes the eighth recruit for the 2015 recruiting class, and the fifth one to pull the trigger in the month of June. He is the first defensive lineman to commit to the class, and the third defensive player overall to join the class. Howe has an impressive highlight film, and shows great athleticism by intercepting passes and tracking down much faster players. He is listed anywhere between 250 and 262 on the various websites, and he is a quicker lineman rather than a space eater. Howe helped guide Archbishop Alter to an 11-2 mark in 2013.
Pitt's recruiting has picked up considerably in recent weeks, and while they aren't adding four or five star types, Rivals gives them credit for seven 3 star recruits. The class still is not what some want it to be, but they are gaining momentum and expanding their reach overall. The class has four different states represented thus far, and they still have some big name targets on the board. If the season goes well, like some expect it to, this recruiting class can turn into a pretty good haul.
