North Carolina-Asheville won a close overtime game against Arkansas-Little Rock to advance and play the Panthers on Thursday afternoon in the first second round of the NCAA Tournament.
As I stated earlier, I think Pitt would have been better off playing Arkansas-Little Rock, but Pitt shouldn't have much trouble with UNC-Asheville.
The Bulldogs defeated UALR 81-77 in overtime.
I've got a hard time taking UNC-Asheville too seriously, but Pitt better not have that problem. For starters, they came back from down 11. They also shot 50% from the field and their star guards Matt Dickey and J.P. Primm both scored 22 points each.
UNC-Asheville beat Auburn on the road this season and while the Tigers aren't a good team, the Bulldogs also hung with North Carolina on the road as well, losing only by 11.
This can't be said enough, but Pitt needs to come out like gangbusters and put this one away early.
