After a nationwide search for next voice of @XFINITYSports, XFINITY is proud to announce the winner of the Ultimate Sports Social Media Job is Vance McCullough!
Vance will take the reins from Austin Schindel (last year’s winner), and serve as the 2013 voice of XFINITY in sports social media communities. He will be responsible for sharing exclusive content and insights from the @XFINITYSports Twitter handle, with a fan reach of 17,000+ followers. Fans that follow @XFINITYSports will be given insider content and insights including:
- Live tweets from the biggest sporting events
- Firsthand interviews with notable sports personalities
- Behind-the-scenes access to your favorite sports shows
- Daily insights on the world of sports and technology
- Access to the Best Seat in the House for the Most Live Sports
Hundreds of entrants participated in the three month competition, which kicked off in January, by submitting their application videos via Facebook. McCullough was not originally named as a semifinalist, but rather one of ten wild card submissions who had to petition for public votes to earn a spot in the Top Ten semifinalist round. After earning one of the top two wild card spots, he joined the Top Ten in the exciting semifinalist evaluations at XFINITYLive! in Philadelphia. His work advanced him to the final five, where he shared outstanding behind-the-scenes content with his fans while participating in MLB Opening Weekend with the Chicago White Sox.
A native of Tupelo, MS and current resident of Atlanta, GA, Vance is a true sports fan, and has translated his passion for sports into everything he does. As an undergrad at Mississippi State he created and co-hosted "The Sports Lounge," a student TV show while also hosting "The Bully Barkline," a statewide, sports-focused radio show. He has interned with The BIG XII Conference in Houston, and spent multiple seasons supporting New Media and Football Operations for the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons Football Franchise, as well.
