Pitt's football team was dealt a cruel blow this week with the loss of star running back James Conner for the season due to an MCL injury. There's no time for the team to rest, however, with a game against Akron this weekend.
The Conner injury looks like a death blow to those outside of the program unfamiliar with the team's depth at running back. But after the big performance by Qadree Ollison last week, along with capable backup Chris James and talented freshman Darrin Hall, there's reason to believe that the Panthers can still get through this season with a capable running game.
Conner's loss, though, is huge and makes an inexperienced group even more so. He was the one 'sure thing' the team had in the backfield before going down with the injury. How are you feeling these days with Conner on the shelf as the Panthers prepare to play without perhaps its best player? Do you expect much less from the team without him suiting up in games?
