Going Scouting: A look at Pitt's next opponent, Virginia Tech

Before Pitt takes on Iowa tonight, take a look at their next opponent, Virginia Tech, before the Panthers bye week.

Peter Casey-USA TODAY Sports

Pitt has a bye week next week, which means you will have two opportunities to check out the Panthers' next opponent - the Virginia Tech Hokies.

The Hokies are 1-1 and you may already know that their starting quarterback Michael Brewer will more than likely miss the Pitt game in two weeks.  Backup Brenden Motley is a scrambler and a change from the less mobile Brewer. Unless you watched Virginia Tech's beatdown of Furman, you probably need to check them out over the next couple of weeks.

Pitt plays at 8:00 p.m. tonight at Iowa and thanks to the schedule, you can also watch the Hokies go through a similar test as they will travel to another Big Ten school, Purdue, for a later kickoff at 3:30 p.m. With the Pitt game not until 8:00 p.m., that gives you plenty of time to catch an early glimpse of Virginia Tech. Tune in at 3:30 p.m. today on ESPNU to watch the Hokies visit the Boilermakers at Rose-Ade Stadium. Purdue checks in at 1-1 as well and while they aren't Ohio State or Michigan State, it should be a nice road test for the Hokies to see where they are in the third week of the season.
