With the latest reports of Pitt athletics director Scott Barnes potentially leaving Pitt, Barnes has issued a brief statement surrounding the rumors:
"I am aware of a report stating that I have accepted a position at Oregon State. That report is not true."
No, I didn't clip part of it off - that's it, folks. No use in looking for more here.
Obviously, that won't quiet much of the discussion among fans on a potential exit. A clear statement about not leaving would have indicated that he had no interest in the job and was staying at Pitt. The statement, as written, only indicates he hasn't yet accepted the job.
Paul Zeise says on Twitter that Barnes has interviewed for the job, but that's all we know at this point.
Again, it's pretty clear that there's at least some interest in the part of Barnes here. More on the story as we get it.
